PROBLEM: Patient unable to swallow and injectable route undesirable.
SOLUTION: Preparation of an alternate dosage form that better suits the patients needs (such as lozenges, transdermal gels, suppositories, nasal sprays).

PROBLEM: Medication tastes bad.
SOLUTION: Each commercial product usually is available in one flavour.  Some children and adults will find the flavour disagreeable and will not take the medication.  We can prepare dosage forms in flavours people like, can vary the flavour from time to time (chronic medications), and usually can mask any unpleasant aftertaste.

PROBLEM: Medication unavailable or discontinued by manufacturer.
SOLUTION: Pharmaceutical companies may stop making products due to limited demand and declining manufacturer profits. However, there are often patients for whom this product provided the best remedy. Using pharmaceutical-grade chemicals, we can compound a medication containing the same active ingredients as the discontinued product.

PROBLEM: Allergic or intolerance to dves/preservatives/lactose/colours/flavours/sugars.
SOLUTION: We can compound the medication without the additives tomeet the special needs of patients with diabetes, lactose inolerances, and allergies.

PROBLEM: A different strength is needed other than what is available.
SOLUTION: Geriatrices/pediatrics do not have to break unscored tablets into fourths or eighths to receive proper doses. If the best dose for a patient is 40mg rather than 25mg or 50mg, we can compound the required strength in capsule form.

PROBLEM: Patient has trouble swallowing a "whole handful of pills".
SOLUTION: A capsule or suspension could contain a combination of drugs.
